Special Community Employment (C.E.) Training Scheme that has been introduced into Co. Kilkenny in April 2017.
The KILKENNY AMÁRACH NUA
Special Community Employment Scheme is funded by the Department of Social Protection and sponsored by Fr.McGrath Family Resource Centre. The aim of the scheme, within the C.E. framework is to develop a progressive path towards recovery and into mainstream services leading ultimately into paid employment.
The main objective of this scheme is to provide people, who are in recovery from substance misuse, with a supported environment offering training and education, building on their personal development and self-reliance through employment. This response was designed to be part of an interagency focus on prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, training and education for the individuals concerned so that they could be enabled to have independent, socially and economically sustaining lives.
The Special Community Employment Scheme has 23 places for individuals, age 18 and over, that have received treatment for their drug or alcohol use and are assessed as ready to benefit from accessing employment and training opportunities.
Our Community employment trainees are employed to do 19.5 hours of Training, Education and employment and also have access to work placements and on the job training through local employers in the city.
